5 Common iPhone Problems and How to Fix Them

iPhones are amazing pieces of technology. They’re sleek, powerful, and can do just about anything you need them to. But, like all technology, they’re not perfect. Here are five common iPhone problems and how to fix them:

Problem 1: Battery Draining Quickly

If your iPhone battery is draining quickly, there are a few possible explanations. First, check to see if you have any apps that are running in the background. Games and social media apps are notorious for draining battery life. If you have any apps open that you’re not using, close them. Also, check your screen brightness. If it’s set too high, that can also cause your battery to drain quickly. To adjust your screen brightness, go to Settings > Display & Brightness. Finally, make sure that your iPhone is up-to-date with the latest software update. Outdated software can cause battery issues. To update your iPhone, go to Settings > General > Software Update.

Problem 2: Can’t Connect to Wi-Fi

If you can’t connect to Wi-Fi, there are a few things you can try. First, make sure that your Wi-Fi router is turned on and that it’s in range of your iPhone. If it is, then try restarting your Wi-Fi router and iPhone. Sometimes all it takes is a restart to fix the problem. If that doesn’t work, try forgetting the Wi-Fi network and then reconnecting to it. To forget a Wi-Fi network on your iPhone, go to Settings > Wi-Fi > Forget This Network. You may also need to contact your ISP if the problem persists.

Problem 3: Frozen Screen

If your iPhone screen is frozen and unresponsive, don’t panic! There are a few things you can try before taking it in for repair. First, try restarting your iPhone by holding down the sleep/wake button until “Slide to Power Off” appears on the screen. Then slide the slider to turn off your device. Once it’s off, hold down the sleep/wake button again until you see the Apple logo appear on the screen (this may take a minute or two). If restarting doesn’t work, try force restarting by holding down both the sleep/wake button and home button until the Apple logo appears on the screen (again, this may take a minute or two). If neither of those works, connect your iPhone to a computer using a Lightning cable and launch iTunes (make sure you have the latest version of iTunes installed). Once iTunes recognizes your device, click “Restore iPhone…” followed by “Restore” when prompted (this will delete all data from your device so be sure to backup beforehand).

Problem 4: A Crashed App

If one of your apps suddenly quits or starts acting strange, there are a few things you can try before deleting it and starting fresh. First, try restarting your phone, that may solve the problem entirely. If not, try force quitting the app in question by double-clicking the home button and then swiping up on its preview in the App Switcher. Finally, if neither of those things works, delete the app and reinstall it from scratch—you may have to set it up again from scratch after doing so, but it’s often worth it to avoid dealing with constant crashing or other buggy behavior.

Problem 5: Slow performance

If your iPhone is starting to slow down, there are a few things you can do to speed it back up again. First, take a look at your app usage and see if there are any apps that are using up a lot of resources. If so, try closing those apps or uninstalling them altogether. Finally, if all else fails, you can always restore your phone to its factory settings—although keep in mind that this will erase all of your data!
